No a la Guerra
In my Design of Dissent book by Milton Glaser and Mirko Ilic, which covers an array of political graphic design and advertising print pieces I found this one. I like to randomly open a book to a random page and just start reading it. Especially with novels that’s always fun.
I came across this one which at first specifically looks to protest Coke, but it was for protesting the Iraq War. According to the book it refers to the larger war between local indigenous cultures and the globalization of America’s corporate reach specifically through resource draining and deforestation.
This was specifically made for Mexican public street walls most likely wheat pasted. The duotone color choice makes me think it could be silkscreened as well.
Proven psychologically, using red has been a good starting point for stopping a viewer in their tracks , think of Marlboro, McDonalds, and of course Coke.
The designer is named Andres Mario Ramirez Cuevas
