My side project that satisfies my passion for candle making
I learned how to make candles and since then have been developing this concept for a candle brand. Basic Ass Candles came about after realizing that most candles are pretty much the same thing. They use organic, locally made tropes and an overuse of worn distressed branding and floral patterns with sensual and deep thoughts of candle names and descriptions.
I wanted to take that and flip it on it’s head and tell you exactly what it is. It’s a Basic Ass Candle and nothing more. Thus this brand with it’s clean to the point design stands out and has received love throughout Brooklyn and Queens where I sell them in restaurants and vintage stores.
By combining various essential oils and scents the candle design remains basic but the scent is anything but.
The candle design is simple. The branding is juxtaposing by use of expressive collage to trigger a synesthetic reaction between sight and smell.
